“Finally, there’s a book written by a social media practitioner for business people. Social Rules! takes a very complex subject and provides the tactical process a businessman can follow to harness this innovative marketing tool to grow their company.”
- Lane Kramer, Founder & President, The CEO Institute, Dallas, TX
Why This Book?
There are plenty of books about social media marketing on the bookstore shelves; what makes this one different is that Paul Slack cuts through the hype and gets down to business basics that can come only from hands-on business successes. Paul speaks the language of business owners and successes. Paul speaks the language of business owners and CEOs and creates efficient and effective methods for capitalizing on social media marketing.
Social Rules! provides strategic dos and don’ts and helps you determine how to implement the best tools. Whether you do this in-house by utilizing a current employee or hire a consultant to help you accomplish these goals, you’ll learn the optimal rules of engagement and how to measure results.
With Social Rules! you will understand and apply your new-found knowledge to answer these questions:
- How does social media relate directly to my business marketing?
- What are the best practices in social media and how can I use them effectively?
- Why is it so important from the consumer perspective?
- How can I effectively shift my advertising budget from nontraditional marketing to social media?
As a small business owner, I wanted something clear, concise and smartly organized to help me wrap my head around the Social Media marketing mystery. This is a great book with lots of smart tips and "rules"...plus access to more information on the Splash Media site. I highly recommend this book.

This book did a great job of explaining not only what to do on social media sites, but also the reasoning behind each activity/task/objective. Instead of just blindly following suggestions, Mr. Slack allows the reader to understand the process and better appreciate why he/she is spending valuable time on these tasks. He also stressed the importance of patience and didn't set unrealistic expectations. As an attorney, I think it would be a great tool for anyone running a solo practice and looking to expand via social media.
